![]() ![]() I noticed a different floor arrangement and some additions to the line-up this summer compared to last. The management rotates some of the machines each year. Besides, you’d be surprised at how fast the time goes when you’re having a blast attempting to become a pinball wizard! In addition to pinball machines you will also find an air hockey table, three skeeball lanes, a few shooting galleries, baseball arcade games, a bowling arcade machine, plenty of the upright style video games (like Asteroids and Galaga), Midway’s Sea Devil torpedo game, and an old style juke box. The All-Day pass is by far the most cost effective. In the summer the arcade is open until 1:00am on Fridays and Saturdays and until midnight on the remaining days. There are also specials such as the Day Pass = $15.00 until 5:00pm, the Night Pass = $10.00 after 5:00pm, both of which also allow re-entry. Costs for playing are as follows: up to ½ hour = $7.50, 1 hour = $10.00, up to 2 hours = $15.00, and All-Day pass = $20 (allows re-entry the same day). All machines are on free play, meaning that you can play any machine as many times as you’d like, once you have paid the admission fee. It also has a smaller sign indicating the people who hold the high score in various categories (male and female for several age groups). Each machine has a sign on top that gives you some history about it. There truly is a machine for every taste and every level of competition. Some machines are single-player, some are double-player, and some are quadruple-player. I didn’t actually count, but there’s got to be around 100 pinball machines in this arcade ranging from the old style 1950s and 1960s machines with mechanical counters, rollovers, and drop targets to the 2010s machines with digital counters, flashing lights, sound effects, and multiple playing levels. It will be especially enjoyable to those of us who grew up in the 60s and 70s, since you are surely going to find a pinball machine you used to play when you were younger. It is both a throwback to the past and a modern form of entertainment. Every time I am in the vicinity of Asbury Park, I make sure to visit this place. ![]()
